Far far away in Wonderland,
Beside the shores of coral sand,
Naughty Alice dances around,
Scattering hearts across the ground.
Dipping her hand into the jar,
Singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’.
One for the Rabbit to replace his pocket clock,
One for the turtle – no longer just a mock.
A handful for the Dodo, to bring him back to life,
and the Mad Hatter who dearly sought a wife.
The next evening at the break of dawn,
She met the Queen of Hearts playing croquet on the lawn.
Spying the jar, stolen from beside her bed,
The Queen shrieked: ‘Off with her head!’
But Alice pulled out from the bottom of the jar
The smallest, yet most frabjous heart by far.
Then getting up onto her knees,
She calmly presented it to the Queen.
She dropped the half eaten jam tart –
All she ever wanted was a heart!
A real one, not a playing card.
Which Alice knew straight from the start.
